Dodson, Mohabir Shine But RHL Just Short In Season Opener

In a captivating Commonwealth Cricket League Division 1 Afternoon encounter at The Cage, Richmond Hill Liberty Cricket Club (RHLCC) fell just short in a high-stakes, 1-wicket thriller against the Supreme Kings. After winning the toss and electing to bat first, RHLCC set a competitive target, concluding their innings at 161 all out in 27.5 overs. Full Scorecard

The RHLCC batting effort was anchored by a resilient performance from Akeem Dodson, who top-scored for the side with a vital 47 runs off 49 balls, featuring four boundaries and a maximum. Setting an aggressive tone early in the innings, Christopher Blucher delivered a rapid fire cameo, blasting 26 runs from just 17 deliveries with three boundaries and one six. Captain Keron Sewnarine also provided crucial middle-order stability with a focused 25 off 23 balls.

Defending 161, the RHLCC bowling unit put on an outstanding display of discipline and grit to push the match to the absolute limit. Leon Mohabir was the pick of the attack, tearing through the Kings’ lineup to claim brilliant figures of 3 for 33 in his 5.4 overs. He was superbly supported by Mahendra Parsaram, who choked the run rate with an incredibly economical spell of 2 for 11 off 5 overs. Kevin Augustin also struck twice, taking 2 for 40 to keep RHLCC firmly in the hunt.

Despite the bowling attack taking the Supreme Kings 9 wickets down, the opposition managed to scrape past the target in the 29th over. While the narrow defeat is tough, #TheBlueNation showed immense fight and character to kick off the Sunday afternoon season.
