Ramrattan, Allen Hammer Half-Centuries in Saturday Run-Fest

Raymond Ramrattan and Richard Allen hammered half-centuries when Richmond Hill Liberty emerged victorious in a thrilling encounter against New York X1 in the NYNCL Rockaway Premier Division on July 1, 2023. The match was decided by 28 runs in favor of Richmond Hill Liberty.

Batting first, Richmond Hill Liberty got off to a shaky start, losing their opener Dino Chooweenam early when he was caught by Karan Ganesh off the bowling of Ansar Khan for just 8 runs. Shiv Sangalemaa followed soon after, bowled by Telston Johnson for 8 runs. However, Richard Allen played a scintillating innings, smashing 72 runs off just 36 balls, including 8 fours and 5 sixes. Raymond Ramrattan also smashed 85 runs off 43 balls, including 7 fours and 6 sixes, to propel Richmond Hill Liberty to a formidable total of 268 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

In response, New York X1 got off to a flying start with Akshay Homraj contributing 36 runs off 21 balls, including 4 fours and 2 sixes. Marvan Prashad also made a quickfire 21 runs off just 7 balls. However, it was Randall Wilson who stole the show with a blistering century. He scored a remarkable 101 runs off just 49 balls, smashing 6 fours and 8 sixes. Despite their efforts, New York X1 fell short of the target, finishing with 240 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their 20 overs.

Among the bowlers, Dayanand Roopnarine and Ansar Khan were the standout performers for New York X1, both claiming 2 wickets. For Richmond Hill Liberty, Dino Chooweenam was the most successful bowler, picking up 2 wickets, while Hemendra Ramdihal and Michael Sultan chipped in with a wicket each.

Richmond Hill Liberty’s victory was built on strong batting performances, particularly from Richard Allen and Raymond Ramrattan, and they defended their total well to secure the win. New York X1 showed resilience, with Randall Wilson’s century being the standout performance, but ultimately they fell short of the target set by Richmond Hill Liberty.

The RHL Sunday team was off this past weekend and will resume their regular schedule this week.
