However, Chandrapaul Hemraj took charge of the innings and played a breathtaking knock, scoring an unbeaten 126 runs off just 62 balls, smashing 11 fours and 10 sixes. He brought up his half-century in 20 balls and passed the century mark in just 47 balls.

Hemraj was well supported by Richard Allen, who scored 64 runs off 42 balls. Their 147 runs, 3rd wicket partnership laid the foundation for Richmond Hill Liberty’s successful chase. Vedeshpaul Singh’s brisk 46 runs off 20 balls also helped handsomely in #TheBlueNation wrapping up the chase in 23.5 overs.

Among the bowlers, Tamesh Persaud was the standout performer for Richmond Hill Liberty, claiming 4 wickets, Chandrapaul Hemraj picked up 3, while Vedeshpaul Singh, Michael Sultan, and Hemendra Ramdihal chipped in with a wicket each. Spartans Cricket Club fought bravely with the bat, but their total of 272 proved to be insufficient against the strong batting lineup of Richmond Hill Liberty. Chandrapaul Hemraj’s sensational century and his partnership with Richard Allen ensured victory for Richmond Hill Liberty.

Scorecard

Surendra Ramcharitar’s unbeaten 58 and Leon Mohabir’s 4-wicket haul highlighted the efforts of Richmond Hill Liberty’s Sunday squad when they came up against Empire Cricket Club. The game ended in a forfeiture after a rain interruption with RHL needing just 33 more runs to overhaul ECC’s 135.

Batting first, Empire Cricket Club lost early wickets as Avinash Sookraj was stumped by Naresh Rambharos off the bowling of Latchman Bisram for 3 runs. Despite contributions from Mahendra Vickash Persaud (16) and Rejaul Rajel (50), Empire Cricket Club struggled to build partnerships. Leon Mohabir and Latchman Bisram were the standout bowlers for Richmond Hill Liberty CC, claiming four and three wickets respectively. Their innings concluded with a total of 134 runs in 25.5 overs.

In response, Richmond Hill Liberty’s chase got off to a shaky start. Bisram and Christopher Blucher were back in the hut with just 7 runs on the board. Ramcharitar and Trevor Henry, however, steadied up the inning and quickly got on top of ECC’s attack. Rahcharitar blasted eight 4’s and three maximums in a splendid unbeaten knock of 58. Henry hammered three maximums and one boundary in his unbeaten stand of 39.

In the 14th over in of the chase a downpour stopped play. With the delay lasting about 30 minutes, ECC’s captain notified the umpires and RHL captain that his team would prefer to not continue the match and that RHL should be awarded the victory. The rain did subside and with the pitch covered play was possible, however, based on ECC’s decision and the approval of the umpires play did not recommence.

Among the bowlers, Ashfak Ahmed and Samuel Mahabir picked up a wicket each for Empire Cricket Club.
