#TheBlueNationBuzz: Fifties from Yadram, Amsterdam & McKenzie; Wickets for Mohabir and Ramdeen to wrap up League Stage with Thumping Victories

Bhaskar Yadram scored 59*, Alex Amsterdam scored his second consecutive 50 and Tegana McKenzie scored an unbeaten 55 in week 14.

#TheBlueNation concluded their league stage journey of the ongoing NYNCL 30 overs Saturday Tournament & Caribbean Fest 40 Overs Tournament 2021 on a high note. They comprehensively beat their opponents to make their way into the playoffs. Half-centuries from Bashkar Yadram 59(34), Alex Amsterdam 56 (46), and Tenga Mc Kenzie 55(51) led with the bat while Leon Mohabir (3/30) and Christopher Blucher (2/19) magical spell crushed the batting lineup of the opponent side. Moreover, some notable performances from Richard Ramdeen 3/13, Tooneshwar Kristona 2/6, and Naresh Rambharos 45 sparkled the proceedings.

Galacticos CC: 130/7(30.0 Overs) Lost By 7 Wickets to Liberty Lions: 132/3(14.2 Overs)

Libert Lions was in cruise control despite losing the toss against Galacticos CC. Baskhar Yadram was the first to strike dismissing Umesh Rawat cheaply for 11. A 57 run stand for the 2nd wicket provided a ray of hope for Galacticos CC before Richard Ramdeen broke the partnership in the 18th over by sending the well-settled Waqas Ali back to the pavilion for 43. The remaining side failed to flourish as they ended their innings on 130 for 7 in their share of 30 overs. Richard Ramdeen took 3 wickets giving away just 13 runs in his 6 overs while Tooneshwar Kristona grasped 2 wickets for a mere leak of 6 runs in 2 overs. In return, Shiv Sangalemaa and Avo Yogeshwar Singh dominated the bowling attack with some quick runs. Avo Yogeshwar Singh was dismissed for 16 which allowed Bashkar Yardam’s entry to the crease. Baskhar scored an unbeaten 59 runs at an astonishing strike rate of 173  including 7 sixes and folded the scene in haste. His inning was complemented by Shiv Sangalemaa 35 runs as they chased down the target in 34th overs with 7 wickets in hand. Bhaskar Yadram was awarded the MOM award for his brilliant outing with the bat.

Richmond Hill Liberty: 156/4 (27 overs) Won By 6 Wickets against MMZ CC: 155/8 (30 overs)

MMZ CC won the toss and elected to bat first. Ushardeva Balgobin chipped in with 21 off 23 balls before the first wicket was scalped by RHL in the 8th over. The batting unit never propelled the inning despite a few decent partnerships. Keith Edie’s 35 (71) and Nikin Permaul’s 30 (17) helped the side to 155/6 off 30 overs. Skipper Tegana McKenzie, Alex Amsterdam, and Troy Mars all finished with one wicket each for RHL. In reply, MMZ separated the RHL opening pair quickly but the batting side kept the chase in check. A crucial partnership between Alex Amsterdam 55 (45) and Terrence Madramootoo 36 (24) set up a resounding victory to wrap up the regular season.

Caribbean Fest 40 Overs Tournament 2021 Season

Richmond Hill Liberty: 143/3(30.3 Overs) Won By 7 Wickets against Melbourne NY Alliance: 142/10(33.5 Overs)

Melbourne NY Alliance won the toss and elected to bat first. The opening pair showed ominous signs for the Richmond Hill Liberty club as they piled up 88 for the first wicket in ten overs. RHL pulled things back with Leon Mohabir dismissing Kawal Dhanraj for 59 followed by Christopher Blucher’s strike in the next over. Soon Melbourne NY Alliance found themselves struggling at 96 for 5 as they lost 5 wickets in a span of 8 runs courtesy of a devastating spell of bowling by Leon Mohabir and Christopher Blucher. The stumbling inning was wrapped up by RHL bowlers in the 34th over for 142 with every bowler used by the RHL side picking up a wicket. Leon Mohabir led the bowling charts with 3 wickets while 2 each for Christopher Blucher and Azeemuddin Khan and one each for Jamiel Jackman and Trevor Henry. In a cautious reply, RHL surmounted the task in the 31 overs well guided by Tegana Mc Kenzie’s half-century 55* of 51 balls and well-fought, unbeaten 45 by Naresh Rambharos.
