In week 13 of the ongoing New York National Cricket League, #TheBlueNation was on fire as they won their respective matches comprehensively. Centuries from Mohamed Shaw 131(101) and Mahendra Parasram 102(59) and 3 wickets by Paul Wintz (3/29) ensured an easy victory for Liberty Lions against Phantom Stallions while a half-century from Alex Amsterdam 76(58) and Leon Mohair’s fifer (5/21) helped Richmond Hill Liberty in brushing off New York Kings. RHL’s Trevor Henry performance with the ball (4/19) was another key performance by RHL in an abandoned match on Sunday.

Liberty Lions: 271/2(30.0 Overs) beat Phantom Stallions Cc: 148/10(22.2 Overs) By 130 Runs

Liberty Lions won the toss and elected to bat first against Phantom Stallions. Despite losing the openers Stefan Rampersaud & Umar Rauf cheaply Liberty Lions still managed to pile up a massive total of 271 for 2 in their quota of 30 overs. Mohamed Shaw and Mahendra Parasram put up a great show of power hitting as both the batsmen scored a century and amassed an unbeaten 221 runs for the 3rd wicket. The Phantom Stallions CC used 9 bowlers to separate the pair but failed miserably in the process. Mohammed Shaw scored 133 runs at a strike rate of 131 while Mahendra Parasram scored 102 runs at an even better rate of 172. In reply, Phantom Stallions were swept away in the pressure of chasing an enormous total. Their batting department looked helpless in front of a collective bowling effort led by captain Paul Wintz’s 3 wickets. Liberty Lions confined them to 148/10 in 22.2 overs winning the match by 130 runs. The MOM was bestowed upon Mohamed Shaw for his brilliant display of batting.

Richmond Hill Liberty: 258/7(30.0 Overs) Won By 138 Runs Against New York Kings: 120/10(21.4 Overs)

Richmond Hill Liberty decided to bat first after calling the coin correctly and a collective batting effort posted a gigantic total of 258 in their 30 overs. Alex Amsterdam was the top scorer with his quick-fired 76 in 58 deliveries. Azeemuddin Khan’s 48 and a couple of lusty blows from Michael Sultan (21 off 9) and Vedesh Singh (32 off 13) in the end guided the side to an inaccessible target. In reply, Leon Mohabir’s fifer blew away the batting ranks of New York Kings. In his spell of 4.4 overs, Mohabir gave away just 21 runs at an economy rate of 4.50. The batting unit of New York Kings never looked comfortable against the ruthless bowling attack of Richmond Hill Liberty. Keron Sewnarine and Terrence Madramootoo too chipped in with a couple of wickets each to restrict the opposition side to 120 for 10 in 21.4 overs. New York Warriors: 163/10(25.0 Overs) and Richmond Hill Liberty: 1/1(2.1 Overs): Match Abandoned

The match between the two sides was abandoned due to heavy rain and the teams were awarded one point each. Batting first New York Warriors were bowled out for 163 in 25 overs. A bits-and-pieces performance was led by Md Mustafizur Rahman who managed to score 38 runs. Trevor Henry was the pick of the bowlers accumulating 4 wickets in his 5 overs giving away just 19 runs at an economy of 3.80. Both Yogeshwar Avo Singh and Keron Sewnarine picked 2 wickets each, aiding RHL in restricting the opposition team. In return, RHL was 1 for 1 in 2 overs when the match the overcase skies broke into pouring rain that did not subside for the evening.
