Sewnarine’s 89 and Mohabir’s 5/36 Steal the Show In Week 9

Sewnarine Scored a blistering 89 off 40 balls, Mckenzie scored 43 and 56 and Mohabir bagged 5 wickets in Week 9.

Richmond Hill Liberty Cricket Club (RHLCC) has made headlines with key performances in both the NYNCL Saturday 30 Overs & Lax Network Queens DBA Dunkin 40 overs Competitions in week 9 of this season. They lost their Saturday encounter to Meten Meer Zorg CC (MMZCC), but Keron Sewnarine’s blistering 89 off 40 impressed the cricketing fraternity. On the other hand, RHL gathered two easy points against the Intruders courtesy of Leon Mohabir’s five-for. Moreover, Tegana Mc Kenzie’s 43 off 28 on Saturday and half-century (56 off 50) on Sunday along with 45 from the bat of Mohindra Boodram on Sunday were other notable performances.

Richmond Hill Liberty Club 226/10 (Keron Sewnarine 89, Tegana Mc Kenzie 43) LOST to Meten Meer Zorg CC 229/2 (Keron Sewnarine 2/30) by 8 wickets

The Richmond Hill Liberty Club won the toss and decided to bat first in Saturday’s game. It was a tough day for RHL batters as they failed to muster runs and lost regular wickets. RHL was tottering at 110 for 5 in 19 overs when Keron Sewnarine and Tegana Mc Kenzie took the reins of the game in their hands and looked in a different mood. Both of them provided much-needed stability and scored 99 runs for the 6th wicket partnership. Keron played an unbelievable hand of 89 runs at an astonishing strike rate of 222 before an unfortunate misunderstanding resulted in his run-out dismissal. Tegana McKenzie also played a handy knock of 43 runs off 28 deliveries. In the end, RHL managed a competitive total of 226 for 10 in 29.2 overs despite 8 of their batters being denied the double-figure mark.

In return, out of luck RHL bowlers failed to pick wickets and the opposition side pounced on the chances available to them, chasing the target in 24 overs. RHL’s hero of the day Keron Sewnarine was the only notable bowler to pick wickets. He grasped 2 for 30 in his four overs. Despite the loss, RHL sit stands at 3rd position on the point table.

Richmond Hill Liberty Club 252/10 (Tegana Mc Kenzie 56, Mohindra Boodram 45) BEAT Intruders 156/10 (Leon Mohabir 5/36) by 96 runs

Richmond Hill Liberty club called the coin correctly against Intruders in Sunday’s game at Baisley Cage. They had a shaky start to their innings as they kept losing wickets without profiting much to the team’s cause. It was their late middle order who rescued them with some handy runs, especially Tegana Mc Kenzie who scored a brilliant half-century. He scored 56 off 50 deliveries while Mohindra Boodram (45) Satish Dwarka (39) and Keron Sewnarine (34) chipped in as well to take the team’s total to 252 for 10 in 37.5 overs.

In reply, Leon Mohabir’s five-for blew the Intruders batting lineup with his magic spell. Chasing 253, the Intruders lost their first wicket in the first over but scored 75 runs for the 2nd wicket. However, RHL bowlers pulled things in their favor with back-to-back wickets in the latter half of the innings. From 138 for 4 in 20 overs, the Intruders surrendered at 156 for 10 in 29 overs, losing the match by 96 runs. Mohabir finished with 5 for 36 in his 7 overs.

Leon Mohabir was awarded the MOM for his Magnificat showcase of bowling skills moreover RHL has moved to 4th rank at the points table.
