An unfortunate week 13 for the RHL contingent as the side lost two crucial matches in the ongoing 30 & 40 overs competitions. On Saturday, the side could not cross the finish line against Melbourne NY Alliance despite key performances, including half-centuries from Keron Sewnarine (61 off 47) and Azeemuddin Khan (60 off 43), and Altaaf Habibulla’s 3-58. On the other hand, Samuel Raghubir’s five for (5-27) could not save the side from a certain defeat in a low-scoring match on Sunday.
NYNCL Saturday 30 Overs 2022
Richmond Hill Liberty Club 200/10 (Keron Sewnarine 61, Azeemuddin Khan 60) LOST to Melbourne NY Alliance 232/8 (Altaaf Habibulla 3-58) by 32 runs
Richmond Hill Liberty was put into the field first after the side lost the toss against Melbourne NY Alliance on Saturday. Despite some decent bowling, the RHL bowlers found no luck as the side not only failed to pick early wickets but gave away too many runs. Altaaf Habibulla provided the first breakthrough in the 7th over at a crucial period when Melbourne NY Alliance was flying away with runs at almost 10 an over. RHL then turned the tide with back-to-back wickets, putting Melbourne’s players on the backfoot. From 68 for none in 7 RHL managed to reduce the total to 89 for 3 in 12. The fourth and fifth wicket partnership did the damage and were able to score some quick runs. Despite all the tough time the bowling unit ensured to keep the total within reach giving away 232 runs against 8 wickets in their quota of 30 overs. Altaaf Habibulla was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets to his name in his spell of 6 overs
Chasing 232 seemed challenging but achievable given the potential of RHL batters but it turned out otherwise. Unlike their opposition, the side was slow to pick pace at the start and lost their opener batter in the fourth over with just 24 runs on the board. Azeemuddin Khan and Latchman Bisram then constructed a solid partnership of 75 runs on 61 deliveries. Bisram departed after scoring 32 vital runs at almost run a ball. The side had to bear the heaviest loss in the form of Khan’s wicket when he was batting brilliantly at 60 at an astonishing strike rate of 139. Keron Sewnarine tried to pick momentum but found no one else to partner with. He scored an excellent half-century as well, 61 off 47 deliveries. The side lost 3 consecutive wickets in 25th over and finally bowled out for 200 in 28.1 overs

Richmond Hill Liberty Club 135/10 (Vedeshpaul Singh 29) LOST to Team United Fighters 136/7 (Samuel Raghubir 5-27) by 3 wickets
Richmond Hill Liberty won the toss and elected to bat first against Team United Fighters in a 40 overs competition on Sunday. The decision to bat first proved costly as the side failed to post a demanding total. The openers went cheaply and following batters too found it difficult to score runs. The side witnessed a collapse from 62 for 2 to 77 for 6 in 4.2 overs suggesting the outcome of the clash. The pitch played a massive role as batters found it tough to middle the ball despite facing numerous deliveries. RHL innings finally saw an end in the 32nd over thanks to the 9thwicket partnership which accumulated 41 runs. In the batting department, Major contributions came from the bat of Vedeshpaul Singh and Leon Mohabir, Singh who topped the batting chart fell for 29 while Mohabair scored an unbeaten 26.
Defending a low total RHL bowlers made life difficult for United Fighters batters as they took regular wickets to stay in the game. Team United Fighters were cruising until Samuel Raghubir trapped Habib Imrul in front of stumps and once the opening partnership was broken it provided opened a little window for RHL to get back into the game. Half a side had reached the pavilion for 93 runs and it predicted a great victory. As soon as the sixth wicket fell, hopes were sky high and success seemed certain, but then the seventh wicket changed the dice and by the time it fell, it was too late. In the end, RHL lost by 3 wickets in the 30th over. Samuel Raghubir was the spearhead with the ball picking up a five-for in his 8 overs giving away just 27 runs.
