Left to Right: Trinson Carmichael 106*, Leon Mohabir 5 wickets, Dominique Rikhi 131 and Shailendra Shameer 118 headlined a 297 runs victory on week four.

Richmond Hill Liberty Cricket Club (RHLCC) is off to a flyer in the first half of the Eastern American Cricket Association (EACA) division 1, round 1. The boys in blue recorded wins over Gladiators Cricket Club, Galaxy Cricket Club and Victory Cricket Club following a washout against Scorpions Cricket Club. The B&R Sheet Metal Sponsored RHLCC team performance has been fueled by outstanding individual performances which include Altaaf Habibulla’s hat-trick against Galaxy CC, centuries from Dominique Rikhi, Shailendra Shameer and Trinson Carmichael against Victory CC, a five-wicket haul by Leon Mohabir against Victory CC and Wahid Ward’s match-winning 99 and Kiefer Phill’s 4 wicket haul against Galaxy CC.

Week 4 – RHLCC at Victory CC in Brentwood.

RHLCC won the toss and took first strike in overcast conditions at Brentwood. Shailendra Shameer , playing his debut game for RHLCC, joined 2017 MVP Dominique Rikhi to open the inning. The duo would set about constructing a mammoth 262 runs partnership in 28 overs. The prolific Rikhi lead the partnership with 131 runs which included 12 fours and 11 maximums. Shameer’s knock of 118 was composed of 9 fours and 11 maximums.

Not to be outdone skipper, Carmichael, reeled off an explosive display of power hitting with a century off just 36 balls smashing 8 boundaries and 8 maximums to have RHLCC finish at 427 for the loss of two wickets with Brandon Boodhoo 18 not out.

In defense, Leon Mohabir scalped 5 wickets for 30 runs off his 8 overs to spearhead the bowling attack and a 297 runs victory.

Week 3 – RHLCC vs Galaxy CC at The Cricket Cage

Bowling first against Galaxy CC RHLCC picked up an early wicket but found resistance from Kieran Krishna (60) and Yudesh Bissnauth (44) who put together a solid partnership taking the score to 94 for 1 at the first drink break. Keifer Phil returned for his first two over spell with a determined 6 over spell in which he tore through the Galaxy CC batting order. He scalped Krishna and Bissnauth and went on to account for Jonathan Foo and Rajiv Ivan in quick succession to put #TheBlueNation ahead.

Altaaf Habibulla (L) picked up 4 wickets including a hat-trick. Keifer Phil picked up 4 wickets

Skipper Vejay Seonarine boosted the Galaxy Inning with a half-century before Altaaf Habibulla took over the show at the cage with a hat-trick with the wickets of Seonarine, Zuli Ali and Wayne Daniels off a smart piece of glovework from wicket-keeper Naresh Rambharos. When the dust settled Galaxy had posted 224 for victory.

Rikhi lost his opening partner Rambharos early in the chase but partnered with Ward to get the score close to 100 before he fell for 48.  Ward took control of the chase going past his half century but looked unbothered by the feat given the task ahead. Carmichael anchored the 4th wicket partnership as Ward approached his century. He would fall short by 1 run but ensured that his team was within striking range of the target. The loss of Ward saw Carmichael ascend to dominance hitting an unbeaten 49 and seeing his team across the line with 5.5 overs to spare.

Week 2 – RHLCC at Gladiators CC in Lido Beach

With heavy overnight rain causing wet outfield and pitch the encounter started off with a reduction in overallotment to 33 per side. RHLCC bowled first and utilized the conditions to bundle out Gladiators for 76. Terrence Madramootoo headlined the RHLCC bowling picking up 4 wickets.

Dominique Rikhi 21 and Joel Boodhoo 16 top scored in the chase of the modest total, but it was not without drama as it took 6 RHLCC wickets falling to get the job done.
