Talha Mumtaz led from the front with the bat in game one. He carried his form throughout the tournament and won the 2025 Best Batsman award, along with the best batsman of the final.

In a closely fought contest, the Essequibo Jaguars emerged triumphant, defeating the Queens Shark by a narrow margin of just 4 runs. Batting first, the Jaguars posted a challenging total of 146, largely thanks to an outstanding 70-run innings from Abdullah Syed. Hemendra Ramdihal was the pick of the Queens Shark bowlers, bagging an impressive four wickets.

In response, the Queens Shark put up a valiant chase, with Talha Mumtaz leading the charge with a well-played 67, supported by Dominique Rikhi’s explosive 25, at the top. However, despite their best efforts and a determined fightback, the Queens Shark ultimately fell short, finishing on 142. The Jaguars’ bowlers held their nerve in the crucial final overs, successfully defending their total and securing a hard-fought win.

Game 2 – Ramdihal’s Heroics Help Queens Shark Overpower USA-GUYANA Panthers!

Hemendra Ramdihal was brilliant all-round throughout and earned the 2025 Guyana Cup Tournament MVP Award!

In a relatively on-sided encounter, the Queens Shark posted a formidable 158 all out, setting a challenging target. Hemendra Ramdihal was the star with the bat, smashing a brilliant 65 runs, ably supported by Talha Mumtaz’s 25. For the USA-GUYANA Panthers, Jason Rooney was exceptional with the ball, claiming four key wickets.

Chasing 159 for victory, the USA-GUYANA Panthers faced a disciplined Queens Shark bowling attack. While Yannick Elliott’s resilient 41 and Akeem Dodson’s 30 offered resistance, Queens Shark’s bowlers proved too strong. Tamesh Persaud, Latchman Bisram, Kellon Carmichael, and Keron Sewnarine each bagged two wickets, consistently stifling the chase. Ultimately, Queens Shark’s strong all-round performance secured them a commanding 38-run victory, successfully defending their substantial total.

Game 3 – Mumtaz Star as Queens Shark Knock Over Brooklyn Bulls with Batting Masterclass!

Batting first, Queens Shark posted a formidable 173 for just two wickets, a testament to their batting prowess. Talha Mumtaz was the undisputed star, smashing an unbeaten 75 runs off just 45 balls, brilliantly supported by Latchman Bisram (36) and Trevor Henry (34). Ansaar Yasim was the only bowler to claim wickets for Brooklyn Bulls.

In response, Brooklyn Bulls struggled to build momentum against a disciplined Queens Shark bowling attack. Despite contributions from Mohamed Shaw (41) and Hayden Babulal (37), Hemendra Ramdihal’s excellent spell of 3 wickets for just 20 runs kept the pressure mounting. Ultimately, Brooklyn Bulls could only manage 136 for 5, falling short by 37 runs, as Queens Shark comfortably sealed the win.

This win meant that Queens Shark finished 2nd in Group A and ranked top of the Eliminator Table to face 3rd ranked Long Island Raptors in the eliminator match.

Game 4 [Eliminator] – Sewnarine, Bisram Bowl Queens Shark to Decisive Victory over Raptors!

Captain Keron Sewnarine led from the front with the ball ending up Queens Shark’s leading wicket taker. Sewnarine captained the franchise for all three years to complete the 3-Peat!

Queens Shark showcased a brilliant all-round performance to secure a convincing win over the Long Island Raptors. After winning the toss, Queens Shark’s bowlers put on a masterclass, dismantling the Raptors’ batting lineup for a mere 101 runs in just 17.3 overs. Captain, Keron Sewnarine, and Latchman Bisram were the wreckers-in-chief, each snatching three wickets, perfectly complemented by Hemendra Ramdihal’s two crucial dismissals. Rohit Dutchin (26) and Devendra Latchman (18) were the only Raptors to show some resistance.

Chasing a modest target, Queens Shark wasted no time, reaching 102 for 3 in just 14 overs. Talha Mumtaz led the charge with a brisk 30, while Dominique Rikhi’s aggressive 26 provided a flying start. Despite Leon Swamy’s two wickets, Queens Shark comfortably reached their target, proving their dominance in a thoroughly professional display.

The win propelled Queens Shark to the semi-final on ‘Finals Day’ and set up a highly anticipated encounter against the formidable Berbice Lions.

Game 5 [Semi-Final] – Carmichael Clutch as Queens Shark Tame Berbice Lions in Thrilling Encounter!

Kellon Carmichael was legendary in defending 9 runs off the last over in the semi-final!

Queens Shark clinched a hard-fought victory against Berbice Lions in a captivating cricket match. Batting first, Queens Shark posted a competitive 153 for 8. Talha Mumtaz was the star with the bat, scoring a brilliant 40, while Hamza Baig (39) and Dominique Rikhi (26) provided solid foundations. Deveshwari Prashad and Anthony Adams were the key wicket-takers for Berbice Lions.

In response, the Berbice Lions put up a spirited chase, with Akshay Homraj (33), Raymond Ramrattan (29), and Bhaskar Yadram (30) making valuable contributions. The chase appeared well set to overhaul the target, but Queens Shark bowlers stayed resilient and kept picking up wickets. Needing 32 off the final 18 balls Yadram looked to looked in and along with skipper Akeem Dewar took 18 off Keron Swenarine’s first 5 balls of the 18th over. This brought the equation down to 14 runs off 13 balls when Sewnarine struck to remove Yadram off the last ball of the 18th over.

Tamesh Persaud was brilliant in the 19th over when Sharks needed to defend 14 runs off 12 balls.  Giving up just three singles and a double Persaud left a defendable 9 runs for Kellon Carmichael in the last over and the experienced all-rounder delivered, BIG! Carmichael removed the big hitting Dewar off the first ball. Looking to go big early, Dewar only managed to sky a miscued hit to the safe hands of Sewnarine at long-on. Two runs came off the second ball, a single off the 3rd and Carmichael struck again on the 4th ball! With 6 runs needed off the final 2 balls, the impeccable Carmichael bowled two dot balls to secure the victory and ignite jubilation at Baisley Pond!

Kellon Carmichael and Michael Sultan finished as leaders of the Queens Shark attack, each bagging three crucial wickets. Keron Sewnarine also contributed with two wickets.

Despite a late surge, Berbice Lions ultimately fell short, finishing on 148 for 9. Queens Shark’s disciplined bowling and sharp fielding secured them a narrow 5-run victory in a true nail-biter.

Tamesh Persaud was the chief destroyer, bagging three wickets, while Hemendra Ramdihal and Keron Sewnarine each claimed two crucial dismissals. Derick Narine (20) and Wasim Haslim (18) were the only Eagles batsmen to show some fight.

Chasing a modest target of 94, Queens Shark wasted no time in asserting their dominance. Talha Mumtaz anchored the innings with a patient 38, complemented by Dominique Rikhi’s aggressive 27.
