Henry, Chooweenam Hit Centuries in Record Setting Day for RHLCC

Trevor Henry struck a club record 160 to follow up his 91 the week before!

Trevor Henry and Dino Chooweenam hammered emphatic centuries in a record setting day for Richmond Hill Liberty Cricket Club (RHLCC) at the Baisley Cage. Henry followed up his 91 against Galaxy Cricket Club the previous Sunday with a RHLCC record, 160 runs on August 4th. Dino Chooweenam, in the same inning, scored his maiden RHLCC ton, 109. Altaaf Habibulla’s unbeaten 64 and Ryan Rajmangal’s 53 combined to have RHLCC post a mammoth 437 runs in their 40 over inning, an Eastern American Cricket Association (EACA) record, against Big Apple Cricket Club (BACC). BACC only managed 108 all out in reply. This followed RHLCC defeating Galaxy Cricket Club (GCC) by 60 runs at the same venue the previous week.

RHLCC vs BACC – Aug 4th.

Securing the toss RHLCC took first strike in favorable conditions for cricket at the Baisley Cage. The openers Chooweenam and Rajmangal quickly move things along scoring the first 50 in four overs. Rajmangal got past half-century in just 24 balls hitting 7 fours and 4 sixes before eventually getting out on 53 in the 10th over. Chooweenam meanwhile, brought up his half-century off just 19 balls hammering 6 fours and 4 maximums.

Dino Chooweenam blasted his maiden RHLCC century off just 41 balls.

By the 37th ball of his inning Chooweenam had raced to 79 runs and the start of the 12th over signaled the climax of his inning. He would hit 5 consecutive sixes off the first five balls of the over to bring up his century. An attempt at the all too tempting 6th six of the over saw him just fall short and being caught at the boundary.

Trevor Henry joined Azeem Khan at the crease and quickly got going, carving his second ball to deep backward point for a boundary. The pair added 76 for the third wicket with Henry getting past his half-century before Khan departed for 20. Having taken 33 balls to get to his half-century, Henry needed just 28 more balls to bring up his century. The knock at this point was sparkled with 7 fours and 7 sixes. Habibulla at the other end was making steady contributions as the pair saw RHLCC past the 300 runs mark in the 30th over. But they were not done yet, especially Henry.

Henry would crash the fastest fifty of the day to get from 100 past 150 off just 15 balls. In doing so, he passed the club’s highest individual total of 147 previously held by Terrence Madramootoo. Hitting a total of 10 fours and 14 maximums Henry finished his inning with a new club record, since the RHCC/LCC merger, of 160 runs. Henry’s record setting knock is his third 40-Over League century for the club to go along with his seven half-centuries. It also took him past 1500 40-Over League runs for RHLCC.

Altaaf Habibulla hit his second half-century for the season and Ryan Rajmangal hit his maiden RHLCC 50.

Habibulla brought up his half century in the finishing overs to end unbeaten on 64 which featured 8 fours and 1 six. Kiefer Phill’s cameo of 14 runs off 4 balls ended the inning with #TheBlueNation posting, what is by all accounts, an EACA record 437/4 in the 40 overs. This performance dethrowns RHLCC’s 2018 inning of 427/2 at Brentwood.

With the enormous asking rate, close to 11 runs per over, BACC came out with guns ablaze but only managed 108 before losing their last wicket. Wahid Ward top scored with 33 and Kelvin Leitch followed with 23 as the notable knocks. Terrence Madramootoo (3) , Leon Mohabir (2), Jamiel Jackman (2), Kiefer Phill (1) and Moien Khan (1) accounted for the wickets in the 329 runs victory.

RHLCC vs Galaxy CC – July 28th.

Once again securing the toss and electing to bat first Captain, Dominique Rikhi raced to 26 off 15 balls before being adjudged LBW. His partner Ryan Rajmangal contributed 17 before he departed with the score on 57 in the 6th over. Trevor Henry and Azeem Khan took the score to 114 in the 15th over before Khan had to retire hurt. Altaaf Habibulla had a short stay at the crease before Terrence Madramootoo joined Henry.

Madramootoo racked up five boundaries and a maximum in his knock of 32 before he departed and quickly followed by Inzy Khan leaving the score at 169 for 5 in the 24th over. Azeem Khan rejoined the inning and along with Henry they moved the score to 246 in the 36th over. On the way there, Henry passed his half-century striking three fours and four sixes. Azeem Khan departed for a gutsy 45 given that he was nursing an injury.

Terrence Madramootoo scored 32 runs and picked up 4 wickets.

Henry kept his momentum going in sweltering conditions and battling minor cramps to get to 91 before he was dismissed in the finishing overs of the innings. Leon Mohabir banged 14 off of 8 balls as being the only notable knock in the RHLCC tail before the inning ended at 271 all out in the 40th over.

Yudesh Bissnauth, smarting off a century the previous week, and Mushin Perkhan got the Galaxy CC inning off to a steady start with Bissnauth taking charge. He smashed two fours and two sixes before being caught for 28. Perkhan stuck around but followed Bissnauth with the score on 68 around the time the 15 over water berak was called.

Karan Ganesh joined Mark Tyrell and the pair added 61 for the 3rd wicket with Ganesh hitting 36 before he was out, brilliantly caught by Habibulla riding the long off boundary. The remaining batsmen along with Tyrell made steady but slow contributions to the inning but RHLCC kept chipping away with wickets to have Galaxy CC bowled out for 211 in the 38th over.

Terrence Madramootoo led the wickets column with 4 for 43 off of his 8 overs allotment while RHLCC’s leading wicket taker, Mohabir added three more to his season tally. Habibulla, Inzy Khan and Jamiel Jackman all picked up one wicket each also.
