Chooweenam, Henry Shine in Winning Weekend for RHL, 5th Round

Dino Chooweenam led the way on Saturday and Trevor Henry followed suit on Sunday to ensure a 5th round, New York National League winning weekend for Richmond Hill Liberty. Chooweenam scored 73 runs off just 34 balls in the Saturday premier division while Henry compiled an experienced 82 runs in the Sunday premier division to help secure wins on both days. Shiv Sangaleemaa and Richard Allen also had notable performances with the bat on Saturday, scoring half-centuries. Captain Keron Sewnarine led with the ball on Saturday picking up four wickets, and chipped in with the bat on Sunday scoring 47.

ON SATURDAY – Punjab Lions vs Richmond Hill Liberty

In an exhilarating encounter, Richmond Hill Liberty emerged victorious with a commanding 132-run win over Punjabi Lions. Richmond Hill Liberty won the toss and elected to bat first, aiming to post a challenging total.

Chandrapaul Hemraj and Shiv Sangalemaa provided a decent start for Richmond Hill Liberty with a partnership of 27 runs. However, the real fireworks came from Dino Chooweenam, who played a scintillating knock of 73 runs off just 34 balls, smashing seven fours and six sixes. He was well supported by Shiv Sangalemaa, who contributed 55 runs off 36 balls, including five fours and four sixes. Richard Allen also played a blistering innings, scoring 54 runs off 28 balls with two fours and five sixes. Thanks to these brilliant performances, Richmond Hill Liberty amassed a formidable total of 296 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 28 overs.

In response, Punjabi Lions struggled to build substantial partnerships, losing wickets at regular intervals. Robin Choudhry provided some resistance with a fantastic knock of 69 runs off just 21 balls, including five fours and seven sixes. However, his efforts were not enough to chase down the massive target set by Richmond Hill Liberty. Punjabi Lions were eventually bowled out for 164 runs in 17 overs.

Keron Sewnarine was the star with the ball for Richmond Hill Liberty, claiming 4 wickets for 38 runs in his 6 overs. Andrew Tomby and Jamiel Jackman also made significant contributions with two wickets each.

Overall, it was a dominating performance by Richmond Hill Liberty, both with the bat and ball. Dino Chooweenam’s explosive innings and Keron Sewnarine’s excellent bowling display were the highlights of the match. Punjabi Lions fought hard but fell short in their chase. Richmond Hill Liberty secured a convincing victory by 132 runs.

In an enthralling contest, Richmond Hill Liberty CC emerged victorious with a hard-fought 25-run win over Melbourne NY Alliance. Richmond Hill Liberty CC won the toss and elected to bat first, looking to set a challenging target.

The opening pair of Latchman Bisram and Dominique Rikki provided a steady start for Richmond Hill Liberty CC. However, wickets fell at regular intervals, with Qumar Torrington wreaking havoc with his impressive bowling performance. Trevor Henry played a brilliant innings, scoring 82 runs off 97 balls, including six fours and four sixes. Keron Sewnarine also contributed with a valuable knock of 47 runs off 56 balls. Richmond Hill Liberty CC managed to post a competitive total of 248 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 40 overs.

Chasing the target, Melbourne NY Alliance got off to a decent start, thanks to Marvan Prashad’s quick-fire 19 runs. However, wickets started tumbling, with Latchman Bisram and Vedeshpaul Singh making crucial breakthroughs. Kwame Patton Jr. showed great determination, scoring 48 runs off 49 balls. Laurel Parks also played a handy inning of 39 runs off 30 balls. Despite their efforts, Melbourne NY Alliance fell short of the target, finishing with 223 runs all out in 37.2 overs.

Qumar Torrington was the standout performer with the ball, taking an impressive 5 wickets for 34 runs in his 7 overs for Melbourne NY Alliance. Latchman Bisram was the pick of the bowlers for Richmond Hill Liberty CC, claiming 3 wickets for 36 runs in his 8 overs.
