Chooweenam, Hemraj 50s On Saturday; Mangla, Habibulla contributions on Sunday ensures Winning Weekend, 6th Round

Richmond Hill Liberty wrapped up Week 6 of the New York National Cricket League’s Premier competition with another Winning Weekend. Dino Chooweenam led a commanding 49 runs victory on Saturday with a second consecutive 70+ score. Chanderpaul Hemraj also scored a half-century. The Sunday squad put in a comprehensive all-round performance to secure a 5-wicket win. Varun Mangla, playing his second match for RHL top scored with 34 runs in a chase of 160 runs after Altaaf Habibulla picked up 3 wickets to lead the bowling.

ON SUNDAY – RHL vs Meeri Peeri

Richmond Hill Liberty emerged victorious in a thrilling encounter against Meeri Peeri in the NYNCL Rockaway Premier Division Saturday Competition. Richmond Hill Liberty won the match by 49 runs led by a blistering 71 runs by Dino Chooweenam.

Winning the toss, Richmond Hill Liberty elected to bat first and got off to a flying start with Dino Chooweenam leading the charge. Chooweenam played an aggressive inning, scoring 71 runs off just 49 deliveries, including 10 fours and 4 sixes. He was well supported by Chandrapaul Hemraj, who contributed 62 runs off 52 balls, hitting 7 fours and 3 sixes. Their 117 runs opening partnership laid a solid foundation for Richmond Hill Liberty.

Despite losing a few wickets in quick succession, Richmond Hill Liberty managed to post a competitive total of 225 runs all out in the 28th over. Sushil Kumar was the pick of the bowlers for Meeri Peeri, taking 5 wickets for 42 runs in his 6 overs.

In response, Meeri Peeri struggled to build partnerships and lost wickets at regular intervals. Amandeep Ammu Singh played a brisk inning of 38 runs off 22 balls, but Meeri Peeri failed to maintain the required run rate. Their inning eventually ended at 176 runs in the allotted 30 overs, falling short by 49 runs.

Chandrapaul Hemraj, along with Dino Chooweenam and Vedeshpaul Singh, starred with the ball for Richmond Hill Liberty. Vedeshpaul Singh was particularly impressive, conceding just 31 runs in his 6 overs and picking up three wickets.

Richmond Hill Liberty’s victory was built on strong batting performances, especially from Dino Chooweenam and Chandrapaul Hemraj, and disciplined bowling efforts from Chandrapaul Hemraj and Vedeshpaul Singh.

Richmond Hill Liberty CC emerged victorious in a closely contested match against Port Mourant Cricket Club in the LAX NETWORK QUEENS DBA DUNKIN 40 OVERS SUNDAY COMPETITION. A solid all-around team effort led Richmond Hill Liberty CC to win the match by 5 wickets.

Batting first, Port Mourant Cricket Club got off to a steady start with Mushin Perkhan leading the way with a patient knock of 40 runs off 72 deliveries, including 4 fours. However, they struggled to accelerate the scoring rate as wickets fell at regular intervals. Vejai Seonarine contributed 34 runs, but the rest of the batting lineup failed to make significant contributions. Port Mourant Cricket Club finished their innings with a total of 159 runs for no loss in their allotted 40 overs.

The bowling effort from Richmond Hill Liberty CC was disciplined and effective. Altaaf Habibulla was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 wickets for 36 runs in his 7 overs. Vedeshpaul Singh also picked up 3 wickets while there was one each for Leon Mohabir and Samuel Raghubir.

Chasing a modest target, Richmond Hill Liberty CC lost a few early wickets after a 62 runs opening stand between Naresh Rambharos and Varun Mangla. They, however, managed to keep the scoreboard ticking. Varun Mangla top-scored with 34 runs, while Naresh Rambharos contributed 29 runs. Sayead Pirbakish was the standout bowler for Port Mourant Cricket Club, picking up 5 wickets for 50 runs in his 8 overs. However, Richmond Hill Liberty CC held their nerve and reached the target in the 23.4 overs with 5 wickets in hand. An unbeaten 64 runs 6th wicket partnership between Danesh Deonarain (28*) and Tegana McKenzie (25*) safely brought it home for #TheBlueNation.

Port Mourant Cricket Club’s bowling effort was hampered by wides, conceding 21 extra runs. Sayead Pirbakish took all 5 wickets for Port Mourant Cricket Club but couldn’t prevent Richmond Hill Liberty CC from securing the victory.

Richmond Hill Liberty CC’s victory was built on disciplined bowling performances by Altaaf Habibulla, and Vedeshpaul Singh. Their efforts restricted Port Mourant Cricket Club to a below-par total, allowing Richmond Hill Liberty CC to secure a well-deserved win by 5 wickets.
